Exciting news! Medical student Cameron Skaggs has offered to help with our Cancer Care Pals Program remotely! Skaggs has a wonderful group of medical students that will be making wellness calls to our cancer members each month, increasing the communication and connectedness between our volunteers and patients. We are THRILLED for this new partnership. Skaggs is currently attending University of Washington School of Medicine.
We had our first successful 8-week book club in the spring! Thank you to our facilitator, Joy Bielenberg for being such a great leader. Thank you to the Weiser Christian Church for allowing us to use the fellowship hall each week. The book club is part of our efforts to expand resources to patients, caregivers, family and volunteers. We hope to do another in the future.
Mr. Rowley presented his 100th blanket recently to Mabel at Angel Wings Network! Back in 2019, Mr. Rowley volunteered to help cut and tie fleece prayer blankets. Working through the pandemic, assembling one to two blankets per week, Mr. Rowley celebrated his 100th blanket with our volunteers. What a shining star he has become to our organization. Thank you, Mr. Rowley!!!
What an exciting week we had! Mayor Hibberd made a declaration for PINK WEEK in Weiser and we also had our 10th annual walk/run event! The event was a big success and we can't wait to announce the final numbers for how much money was raised for cancer patients. We had an awesome turnout. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated, supported, sponsored, and was involved in one aspect or many! We couldn't do it without you!
Wow, what an amazing turnout for the Idaho Gives & Online Auction Event! We raised more money than we have ever raised for the spring event in the 13 years of Angel Wings existence! AMAZING! So what was the grand total?!
$17,000 ! Our initial goal was $15,000 and we blew that out of the water!
We couldn't have done this without the immense love and support from everyone involved. Local businesses that donated items and money, family, friends, and other community members who also donated. To the volunteers who spent HOURS and HOURS preparing this event. THANK YOU! Without all of you, we would not have successful programs and fundraisers.
We are truly blessed.
Our auction is now officially CLOSED! Thursday, May 6th, we will be processing payments and arranging for shipping and pick up of items. What an exciting event! We look forward to tallying the results and announcing the grand total for this fundraiser event. Check back to find out what the final numbers are! And don't forget to watch our social media pages for the most recent updates and happenings.
This year, for Idaho Gives, we are organizing a HUGE online auction event as our major fundraiser. This event will be accessible to anyone who has access to the internet. As of right now, we are soliciting for donations among individuals, businesses, and organizations. Every little bit helps in our cause! Our goal is to raise $15,000 with this event. Help us make it a successful one!
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a grant from St. Lukes through their Community Health Improvement Fund! This grant will go towards our "Wheels to Recovery" program. Transporting cancer patients to and from treatments and appointments is a huge piece of the work that we do. Without this program, many people would have no other option to get to their treatments. We are so thankful for this grant.
The global event #GivingTuesday is happening Dec. 1st, 2020! This is the end-of-year chance to get in one last donation before the New Year. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a way to encourage folks to give back to their communities through generosity. Here at Angel Wings Network, we are in need of monetary donations as well as volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients to and from treatment. One or two days per month commitment would help tremendously! Any size monetary donation would also be greatly appreciated because this year has been rough on everyone, including nonprofits. We were unable to do our two major in-person fundraisers this year, which directly impacts our ability to help cancer patients. #GivingTuesday is your chance to help!
