Ways We Can Help

"Wheels to Recovery" Program
Patient transports are offered to our patients for a safe and reliable way to get to chemotherapy, radiation or medical appointments in Idaho and Oregon. Our friendly and reliable volunteer drivers are trained and certified to provide dependable transport.

Prayer Blankets
We offer comfort to patients/clients and family members. Blankets are assembled with love by volunteers. Each blanket is blessed with a prayer for healing and recovery, placed in a gift bag with other goodies, and delivered by a volunteer to a patient/client.
"Cancer Care Pals" Program
We partner volunteers with cancer patients to connect folks to a caring individual who will call once per month (or more if needed) to offer support, resources, and services. It is our way of staying connected to our cancer patients instead of being a one-stop-shop for people who need some extra help during their cancer journey.

Lending Library
Our office holds a lending library full of books, brochures, and other resource material for our cancer patients to borrow. One of the highly recommended books is "Cancer, Now What" that we hope to be able to gift to patients soon. Educating yourself on your diagnosis can help to empower you! Knowledge is power!

Gas Cards
We can also help with the cost of travel for families to their cancer appointments. We also provide gas cards to our volunteer transport drivers.

Restaurant Gift Cards & Certificates
We offer gift cards to local area restaurants. Traveling to and from treatment can sometimes be an all-day thing. To help ease the burden of added financial strain, we are happy to provide meal cards to offset the cost of eating on the go. Subway, McDonald's, Weiser Classic Candy, IHOP, and Golden Corral are among some of our generous donors of meal cards.

Grocery Store Gift Cards
To help offset the rising prices of groceries, we are now providing grocery store gift cards to those with food insecurities. During your cancer journey, how you're going to pay for groceries should never be a worry weighing you down. We can help alleviate some of that burden while you are in treatment.

Cleaning for a Cause
We will pay for the first 4 hours of cleaning to help maintain a clean living environment and provide relief to the patient.

Comfort Bags
We fill custom bags for patients in need with comfort and care items which are delivered to every new patient. Notebooks, journals, pens, hand sanitizer, wipes, kleenex, snacks, candy, puzzle books, face masks, and lots more!

Prosthetic and Wig Services
We have vast resources for prosthetics, bras, compression garments, wigs, scarves, caps and hats. Patients are welcome to look through what we have and use items free of charge. Each item is clean and ready to be used.

Weekly Outreach at Cancer Infusion Centers
Each week at least one volunteer performs outreach at the local infusion centers, providing comfort and support. Volunteers talk to new patients and offer services to those who wish to sign up. We also offer hand massages as a way to ease stress and bring relaxation, hard candy to help with dry mouth and nausea, comfort items, and emotional support. As of June 2021, our outreach services will begin once again after a long year and a half of suspended services due to COVID-19. We are excited to be able to offer this outreach once again!

Prepared Meals / Emergency Food Boxes / Meal Train
For our cancer patients, we offer prepared meals from the local Weiser Senior/Community Center. Meals can be picked up by a volunteer and delivered if needed. We can also put together a food box in an emergency situation. Meal trains can also be arranged for those who could use some extra help during treatment. We have a list of volunteers who are ready to cook a homemade healthy meal or order take-out from one of the local area restaurants for a cancer patient in need.

Handmade Cloth Masks
Back in March of 2020, COVID-19 brought in a new reality. Our patients need extra protection again sickness while their immune systems are down during cancer treatment. In an effort to help, we will now be providing handmade cloth masks made by volunteers. Each patient will receive a couple of masks in their goody bag.

Salon Services
Several local beauty shops offer FREE services to cancer patients. For those who would like to utilize this resource, please give us a call or stop by the office and we can help arrange this. We also have a local business who can style wigs for cancer patients. Great resource for our area!

Emotional Support & Guidance
Sometimes simply having someone to talk to about your cancer diagnosis and the struggles you face can be a way to relieve some stress. Not everyone has someone to talk to! That is why we have dedicated volunteers who have all experienced cancer in one form or another. Our volunteers are here to support you emotionally through this fight. We can provide friendship, good listening ears, and guidance. If you are in need to advice on how to cope with the financial aspect of treatment, we can help guide you in that aspect as well. If you just need someone to listen, we are here. No one should go through this battle alone.

Additional Resources We can provide additional resources outside of our organization, if needed. We have a growing list of people, places, and organizations that can help in various ways. If you or your loved one has a need, please don't hesitate to talk to us about it. We will do what we can to connect you to the right resources. |
