Over the past 6 years, we have expanded upon and continue to offer many unique services to cancer patients/clients, caregivers, survivors and loved ones.
Support Services include areas of help with gas cards for individual transportation, prayer blankets, surgery pillows, hats, scarf, and gloves.
In partnership with the American Cancer Society, we provide transportation for patients to and from chemotherapy, radiation treatments and medical appointments.
Look Good Feel Better classes are held 4 to 5 times a year for women under treatment for cancer. Classes are held at the Weiser AWN office and at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center -Ontario, in a determined conference room. The class is approximately 1.5 hours long and are offered free to attendees.
Our Lending Library provides a broad range of books about cancer, and awareness, nutrition, religion, emotional support, devotional, meditation, and soothing music.
Bringing a level of education and awareness is also important. Throughout the year we offer the "Look Good - Feel Better class for women with cancer.
A licensed, certified cosmetologist teaches women how to feel beautiful and confident as they cope with changing skin and hair loss. This program is possible by the partnership of the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council, and the National Cosmetology Association. - *American Cancer Society.
The "For Men Only" class provides an avenue for men to be informed about early detection and health issues related to prostate cancer. This class allows men to talk openly with a Medical Doctor while sharing personal concerns.
As we reach our fifth year serving the personal needs of cancer patients, we have to acknowledge the giving spirit of our volunteers, community, and local businesses. Our success has been achieved through their efforts and support in our vision.
